I'm thankful for...

Happy Thanksgiving!  I have so much to be thankful for, and my family is on the top of the list!  I have an amazing little boy, and a husband that still makes my heart stop.  We were both raised in wonderful families, and I'm thankful that Jett is surrounded by so many examples of loving parents.  Both of our moms work hard to make the holidays special and I'm very thankful for them.  I'm thankful that we are employed, and healthy, and have a nice warm home to live in.  I have friends that I have known since grade school and I'm thankful for them and always look forward to going out with them every month.  I have a lot to be thankful for and I love that we have a holiday that helps me remember how very blessed I am.

We did it!

Building has been both a blast and a headache, and we're finally done!  We have wanted to be in a place of our own for sooo long that I can't believe it has actually happened.   I am very grateful to both Holden's parents and my grandma for allowing us to live with them throughout the years.  Our families have been very supportive, and it is because of their generosity that we are able to do this.  We love you!

Monson Family Vacation 2012

My Family took a trip to Yellowstone last week, and we had a ton of fun!  We stopped at Lava Hot Springs on the way to West Yellowstone, and Jett l-o-v-e-d the slide there.   I think it may have been his favorite part of the trip, the kid seriously loves the water.  We saw some awesome wildlife, of course there was buffalo, deer and elk, and then we also saw a coyote, two bald eagles and a moose.  We went to the Discovery Center as well so we got to see bear and wolves there, but that doesn't really count when they are fenced in :)
Going down the slide with grandma...we would let go of him at the very end and let him drop into daddy's arms, and he would just squeal!

Holden's favorite part of the trip was definitely finding wildlife

Hitchin' a ride on grandpa's shoulders

swimming at fire hole was probably my favorite part, we jumped into the rapids and let the current carry us down stream a little ways...Jett of course did not join in this but maybe someday he will!
Playing with his cousin Rylee.  All my nieces and nephews are so stinkin' cute with him!

Summer Fun!

I took Jett swimming with my sisters kids a couple weeks ago and Jett LOVES the water, and the girls of course loved him

We went on our first camping trip of the year last weekend and Jett was a lot of fun, he pretty much just wanted to dig around in the dirt and eat rocks

A mouthful of dirt....yummy

Apparently playing under the table in the trailer is hilarious, he would crack up every time he got under it

Only a true Rockwell falls asleep with his gun

My family did a golf tournament for both Father's Day and for my dad's birthday, and this future golfer had a good time playing around on the putting green with daddy

Let's hear it for the boys!

Okay girls are you ready for this?  What we have here are three off-duty police officers who decided to spend the afternoon at the dinosaur museum with their kids....THAT'S SO HOT!!!  And the one in the middle, he's all mine! :)

Happy Birthday Jett!

Our sweet Jett,

Happy first birthday!  You have been such a wonderful addition to our lives, and we love you more than we can ever tell you!  You have so much life and energy, chasing you around is the best part of our day.  We’ve never seen a kid that can crawl as fast as you, and now that you’re beginning to walk we know that we are in trouble!

You have such a great laugh, we tickle and tease you all the time just to hear that laugh and see your big smile.  And now you have started to jabber at us when you’re playing with your toys, the only word we really understand is Dadda, but you look right at us when you talk like whatever you’re saying is really important and somehow we don’t doubt that it is.  It has been so fun to watch you learn and grow, every new thing you do is exciting to see.

Since you are our first child we’ve had to learn as we go, so there have been mistakes made along the way, like the time we turned you orange from feeding you too many yellow vegetables and not enough green ones, sorry about that.  And right now you have five little stitches in your left eyebrow from falling into the coffee table last week while learning to walk, I’m sure they will be the first of many.

We decided to wait several years before becoming parents, but if we had known what we were missing out on we wouldn’t have been able to wait a minute for you.  This past year has been both the most difficult and the most rewarding year that we’ve experienced, and we wouldn’t change a thing.  We just love you so much, and are so grateful to you for making us into a family.

Lots of love and kisses,
Dad and Mom

OUCH!

Jett had his first stitches on Tuesday!  He's just starting to walk, and the poor little guy stumbled into the coffee table, so I ran him over to our doctor and they put five stitches in his left eyebrow.  He handled it like a champ!

Whew!  Big day, all tuckered out

6 years old

We got our Roxie Belle six years ago today!   We made her some special dog treats to make up for last years cruddy birthday when she had to have surgery on her knee :(  She's a sweet little thing and although she has gotten a little ornery in her old age she is still great with Jett, and we have a lot of love for our little puppy!

11 months

We survived the first ear infection!  It started on New Years Eve and it was rough, Jett screamed off and on until 5 am.  Once we were able to get him in to see the doctor and got him started on the antibiotics life returned to normal again.  Jett slept better when he was next to one of us so we had a little sleep-over in his room one night, it was kinda fun.

Roxie is Jett's BFF.  He already feeds her from the table, it didn't take him long to figure out how to make his broccoli disappear.

He says Da-Da like crazy, but can't for the life of me get him to say Ma-Ma!  Can't blame the kid too much though cuz he does have a pretty great Da-Da.
